This is false. It's basically the nature vs. nurture question, and the answer to that question is that outside influences only shape our personalities to some extent. The core of our personalities is something we are born with. See Carl Jung.True or false: Everyone's personality and beliefs are based off of influence and mental programing?
Any human's entire life and ways of thinking are based on influence and mental programming! Every single thing you've ever seen and heard as effected the person that you are right now. Do you really think that if a person were to be raised from birth in complete isolation that they would still somehow maintain some kind of personality? No way. They'd be an animal programmed to eat and sleep every day without any thoughts or beliefs.True or false: Everyone's personality and beliefs are based off of influence and mental programing?
It is true that everyone's personality is the result of genetic make-up and life experiences. It is not true that what people believe is controlled by these factors. People are heavily influenced by what they are taught, but they still have personal responsibility for what they believe.
If I am arrested for stealing and tell the judge, ';I steal because my father taught me to steal,'; he is not likely to find me not guilty. We believe what we choose to believe. When you die and face your Maker and He asks, ';Why were you so nasty to all those gay men and lesbians?';, you could say, ';Well, everyone else was and they told me I should be too.'; I wonder what God will say?
Absolutely correct.
It is only when we examine personality and beliefs do we see just how mentally and socially conditioned we are.The problem is that not many people are aware of who they really are because they could not possibly disbelieve in who they are not,and so are happy to be the sheep that follows the sheep in front of them.
False. If I believed what the culture would have me, I would not believe that I am a man, made in the image of God, with morals, a purpose and a sense of right and wrong.
And before anyone says, ';well that was how you were brought up,'; I was only saved as a Christian a year ago. Before that, I was the exact opposite.
That isnt to say that culture doesn't influence, but everyone's beliefs are theirs alone. As to the personality, everyone is different any way.
Everyone has a base personality. This can easily be seen in infants who have had limited ';programming';. This essential person, or base personality, can be augmented, changed, and completely hidden. But personalty in its entirety is by no means only a collection of experiences and programming.
No ,otherwise where did thinkers come from.?Some people don't just accept what they are fed, and start digging to know more.
False.
You're forgetting about instincts.
Define mental programming. Does it include mental disorders?
