Someone came up to me the other day and we were talking, and I asked him how work was. He replied by saying, ';It's fine, you gotta do it, you know?';
I then replied, ';Yeah, we in America need to work, there are millions of people on welfare depending on it.';
True or false?
I suppose it can be taken both ways. Who knows.Is this comment true or false in your opinion?
True indeed...Is this comment true or false in your opinion?
I guess it is sort of true.. We who work work first for ourselves, I think.. but our taxes do go to help people on welfare.. but also to help the country run.
Very interesting. I reckon that is true. That Americans and certainly many cultures work for the maintenance of those without jobs. But then again societies are so unfair and biased towards some areas that many cannot afford or even begin to suceed in life.
welfare seems to me, in a lot of cases, to be a career choice.
That's very true.
';The sublime and the ridiculous are often so nearly related, that it is difficult to class them separately. One step above the sublime makes the ridiculous, and one step above the ridiculous makes the sublime again';
Thomas Paine
America spends more than makes so, its partially both.
The welfare folks suck off money that doesn't really exist.
Our tax dollars go to university grants to study how cattle flatulence affects global warming. (no kidding)
Yep, that's true alright.
No your tax dollars are going to protect the opium crop in Afganistan
Well, millions of people who receive some sort of welfare subsidy do rely on the working people for help. For instance, WIC (Women, Infants, Children) is a program that subsidizes some food products in order to make sure that low-income pregnant women and children can get a nutritional diet. To me, that's important and worth some of my tax money.
Now, I'm not for a welfare state. Many countries don't have welfare systems and the people are forced to figure out to fix their own lives and in some cases, this is better. I feel that if people can vote themselves free money (via Congressional handouts) then the whole system is going to fall apart.
Lastly, your friend's statement of Millions of people are counting on us...is kind of a misconception in that sure there may be a million people on welfare, but they may not be recipients of his tax dollars since most welfare programs are provided by the state and local governments.
Additionally, there are over 300 million people in America, if about 1% of them need help, that doesn't seem too big of a deal. Its not like the welfare money lets them live a lifestyle that is equivilant to a middle-income earner.
LOL!!! True. Time for a party.
True, by far. This country is quickly slipping to socialist control. Catering to all of those using real hard working americans and then slashing there paychecks to half, just so the guy down the street can get his drug fix on your tax dollar. You had better believe it. I call on Conservatives to rise to change the system and abolish the current one.
Yes, I suppose it is true.
true and dont forget the UN as well
